A collaboration with the activist organisation Extinction Rebellion Ibiza to create a giant ‘payesa’ (peasant woman) puppet for the Ibiza carnival processions, 2023.

Catalina the giant ‘payesa’ woman was the centrepiece for Extinction Rebellion Ibiza‘s carnival float, which participated in processions in various towns of Ibiza in February 2023. She symbolized the resistance of the Ibizan people in the face of the luxury lifestyle habits of the mega-wealthy, who use the island as their hedonistic playground and contribute to soaring carbon emissions, accelerating the climate emergency, threatening local ecology and disregarding local culture.

Catalina the ‘payesa’ helped Extinction Rebellion Ibiza to win two carnival prizes – one for artistry, the other for environmental awareness.
