Dear followers, I am delighted to be teaming up with Enrique Villalonga, film-maker and founder of Filmótica Studio, to be offering an intimate screening of Festival of the Sun, Enrique’s 20 minute short film of our 2021 ritual performance of the same title, which took place on one of the largest threshing circles of North Ibiza, to a total of approxmately 90 audience members.
This is the first time that we have shared this short film, in its entirety, with the general public, and the screenings will take place in the new audiovisual/cultural centre, Filmótica Studio, in central Ibiza town. I look forward to sharing the story of the creation process of this one-off, unique outdoor performance rite, which took place in high summer and represented the fruits of over two months of development with a team of almost twenty generous and dedicated artistic collaborators.
On 26th May I will share thoughts about my research into Ibiza’s abandoned threshing circles, the mysterious symbol associated with wheat harvest, sun worship and protection which is found at the heart of Ibizan folklore and a lot more….
The 1930h session will be presented in Spanish, and the 2100h session will be in English. The film itself is largely visual and non-verbal. Capacity is extremly limited and it’s likely both sessions will sell out, so book your place swiftly to avoid disappointment, by emailing: studio@filmotica.com
